"Black, Bold, and Beautiful: A Night of Serendipity"

I had the joy of attending Serendipity Ala Mode 2025 in Canton, MA with my Mahogany Mates business partner, Kim Dickerson. And what an unforgettable experience it was. The moment we walked in, the energy was electric. The room was filled with elegance, confidence, and culture. Mostly Black folks, all dressed to kill. Every glance revealed someone expressing themselves boldly through fashion, style, and grace. It wasn’t just an event; it was a celebration of Black excellence, joy, and unity.

Meaningful, Old School Connections

The legendary R&B group Silk lit up the stage with classic grooves that took us all back. Their performance wasn’t just nostalgic, it was a powerful reminder of the timeless artistry in our community, and how music continues to connect us across generations.

But what moved me the most wasn’t just the entertainment or the style. It was the people. I met several strong, confident Black folks. At this stage in life, those kinds of connections can feel rare. But they reminded me that it’s never too late to expand your circle or deepen your sense of belonging.

It’s easy to think our best social years are behind us, or that new, meaningful connections are hard to come by as we grow older. But the truth is, life continues to surprise us, if we let it. When we stay open to new experiences, when we lead with authenticity, and when we remain curious about the people around us, life will continue to be rich, vibrant, and full.

Soulful Serendipity

Serendipity lived up to its name. It was unexpected, affirming, and soulful. And it reminded me that magic happens when we show up, not just for events, but for ourselves and each other.

Here’s to saying yes to new spaces. To surrounding ourselves with brilliance. And to walking into every room with joy, intention, and openness.

Life is and will always be great when we choose connection over comfort and courage over routine.
