May 30 - June 8

GREENPOINT/WILLIAMSBURG — BROOKLYN FILM FESTIVAL (BFF) IS RETURNING for the 28th time with its newest edition titled “Pause.” BFF received over 3,270 films from 130 countries for its 2025 season and will program the selected lineup of 160 film premiers in 43 two-hour program blocks from May 30 to June 8.
BFF will be staged in-person at the Windmill Studios in Greenpoint with additional showings at the Wythe Hotel Cinema in Williamsburg from June 2 to June 5. Screenings will also be accessible on BFF’s website.
BFF’s selection criteria has remained the same for the past 28 years and determines that films are selected from submissions only, films cannot be older than two years and all films, even the smallest film, participate in the award competition and can win the top festival award: the Grand Chameleon. In total, BFF will award 30 films/filmmakers, giving away a total of $50,000 in value of cash, products and services. BFF divides the selected films into six categories: experimental, documentary feature, feature narrative, short narrative, short documentary and animation.
“In a world of distractions, pop-up notifications, infinite scrolling with fabricated truths, content that demands constant attention, what if the solution isn’t more noise, but a Pause,” said festival Director, Marco Ursino. “The 28th BFF plans to grab the audience’s attention amongst the chaos, and underscore the relief associated with smart, honest, quality screen time and the clarity that comes from taking a break, finding focus, and tuning in.”
